• American Academy of Forensic Psychology - Essentially a "barebones" contact site for AAFP, with brochure, summary statements about membership, and workshops. Has limited information and research resources.*
• American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS) - Although this organizational site deals with forensics in general, there was no substantial mention of forensic psychology or psychiatry. Offers interesting, brief descriptions and examples of various forensic areas.*
• American Academy of Psychiatry & the Law - Essentially an organizational site, it offers some links to legal resources (e.g., state judicial sites, law schools), government information on crime, statistics and justice, psychiatry sites and a Medline link. Visitors may send questions about the organization, child forensic psychiatry, civil issues, correctional psychiatry, criminal issues, ethics, and training in forensic psychiatry.*
• American Board of Forensic Psychology - see American Academy of Forensic Psychology...
• American Chemical Society - Nicely designed site with search engine specializing in chemistry. A few references to forensic chemistry, none to forensic psychology. If chemistry is an interest, the site is worth a visit.*
• American College of Forensic Examiners (ACFEI) - Attractive site with list of member and other forensic links. However, other valuable attractions, such as online journal, discussion and national registry, are by subscription only.*
• American National Standards Institute (ANSI) - Examines a variety of environmental and technical standards, but does not offer productive information on psychology in general or forensic psychology
  per se.*
• American Psychiatric Association - Forensic Psychiatry - A good site for gathering general information on psychiatric services, including DSM-IV, Practice Research Network & Guidelines, Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT), AIDS and general information on mental illness, choosing a psychiatrist, and other issues for a lay forum. Do not expect an abundance of forensic information, although they do make reference to a number of court decisions.*
• American Psychological Association- Division 41: American Psychology - Law Society - promising, but not fulfilling site. Good bibliographies of Eyewitness and Jury Research. Mention of e-journal which may be in progress. Links to other legal and psychological sites available elsewhere. *
• American Society of Crime Lab Directors (ASCLD) - Society devoted exclusively to the improvement of crime laboratory operations. No psychological materials here.*
• American Society of Forensic Document Examiners, Inc. (ASFDE) - This society deals with questioned document examination. Some of its features can only be accessed only by member password. It includes Forensic Document Examination, Imaging Technologies, QD and the Law, handwriting, typewriting and imaging.*
• American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) - Speaks for itself: "The ASTM International Directory of Testing Labs is an on-line full text search for services and locations of testing laboratories.
  The information on the types of tests performed, specific tests performed, materials analyzed, or other services offered has been provided by the laboratories. ASTM has not attempted to investigate, rate, endorse, approve or certify any laboratory. Each laboratory has paid ASTM a fee for their listing. *
• Association for Crime Scene Reconstruction (ACSR), The - Professional group that performs forensic analyses and comparisons on evidence from crime scenes. Interesting crime scene test, but no answer to
  it. Nothing of immediate forensic psychological interest.*
• California Association of Criminalists - No clear explanation of range of forensic interest areas. Mentioned are fire and explosion investigation, microscopy of rape evidence, analysis of alcohol in samples from suspected drinking drivers, basic microscopy, firearms reconstruction and serial number restoration. Appears to deal mainly in evidence-gathering and laboratory analysis, but no archive of information and no mention of psychology.*
• Forensic Science Society - Although this society claims to be multidisciplinary and dedicated to the
  application of science to justice, a search of the society's journal bibliography revealed only 2 references to forensic psychology.*
• Forensic Sciences Student Organization - at George Washington University. Of minimal interest. No mention of psychology, a few links and a few articles on Blood Splatter Analysis, Identical Twin Fingerprint Patterns, the Use of the Scanning Electron Microscope to Compare Pistol Rounds and
  Mitochondrial DNA.*
• Microscopy Society of America (MSA) - An organization dedicated to the promotion and advancement of the knowledge of the science and practice of all microscopical imaging, analysis and diffraction techniques useful for elucidating the ultrastructure and function of materials in diverse areas of biological, materials, medical and physical sciences.*
• Mid-Atlantic Association of Forensic Scientists (MAAFS) - Nothing of value here. Essentially an organizational site with few publications in forensics and nothing related to psychology. *
• National Association of Document Examiners (NADE), The - Handwriting experts who examine signatures and documents to determine authenticity or identify the originator. Of little value in itself, NADE is a link of ExpertPages, which provides legal information and other valuable links.*
• National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME) - This is a national organization of medical examiners, medical death investigators and death investigation system administrators including physician medical examiners and coroners, medical death investigators and medicolegal system administrators from throughout the United States and other countries. Of interest to some, it offers nothing to mental health professionals.*
• National Committee for Clinical Laboratory Standards (NCCLS) - NCCLS focuses upon medical testing and healthcare services through development and dissemination of consensus standards, guidelines, and best practices. Mental health searches yielded no results. *
